I'm Maria. I created this page originally to be a beacon of information for other women who were like me at the time: young, athletic, and looking for more relevant anecdotal information about dealing with breast cancer. Nearly 7 years after my initial diagnosis, I've returned to this blog to unpack the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual process that comes with coping with recurrence.

In June of 2013, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I continued playing roller derby as much as possible through treatment. I decided to start a blog about it for a few reasons:
- Research is a b!#ch! Its hard to find information about roller derby athletes who have dealt with breast cancer. My hope is that this information may be helpful to someone else. Knowledge is power.
- Recharge! I am an extrovert by nature, so dealing with things publicly is soothing for me. I get my strength/ energy from others.
- Education. Occasionally (so I don't bore you to tears), I will post random facts/ info about boob cancer, specifically in young women. There is a surprising lack of information about BC in women under 40, which means ladies like me are SOL when trying to gather info relevant to us.
